Off the Menu: Asian America
The Colorado Dragon Film Festival will continue Sunday, May 22 at 2:00pm with Off the Menu: Asian America Filmmaker Grace Lee visits kitchens, factories, temples, and farms of Asian Pacific America to explore people’s connection to food and community. She profiles the Japanese American King of Sushi who supplies supermarkets throughout Texas, and Korean Americans who have adapted their cuisine to the tastes of their non-Asian customers. Lee also visits a Sikh temple to check out their food, and travels to meet native Hawaiians who have returned to ancient sustainable fishing traditions. You’ll leave the film wanting to head for an Asian restaurant for dinner!
Luckily, you’ll be able to sample some sushi after the screening to stave off your hunger, courtesy of Kokoro!
