COLORADO PREMIERE

Having emerged as one of Thailand’s most exciting new voices from his first two films, 36 (thirty-six fixed shots) and Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy (based on 410 consecutive tweets from a real teenage girl), Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit takes his playful sensibilities and applies them to a more commercial setting in Heart Attack. Using popular performers instead of the usual non-actors, this almost rom-com is a quirky yet contemplative take on those who make their livelihood from competitive freelance work instead of a steady desk job. Yoon (Sunny Suwanamethanon) is a talented designer who uses Photoshop to touch up the bodies featured in promotional materials. His desire to keep his calendar full of gigs with increasingly unrealistic deadlines has turned him into a thirtysomething Sisyphus. After staying up for five days straight, Yoon notices that he has developed a rash on his body. It’s spreading and he can’t just airbrush it away. A visit to the free clinic has him meet-cute with Doctor Imm (Davika Hoorne) who challenges him to find life outside of work.
